Rewarding, fulfilling and challenging:

We’re often asked how AMCed came into being, and why it was necessary, so we’ve put together this helpful potted history that will hopefully answer all your questions.

Welcome to AMCed

Association of Muslim Chaplains in Education is an independent, national non-profit organisation which provides support, advice and training for educational institutions and for Muslim chaplains working in the education sector.

Providing Ongoing Support for Existing Chaplains

One of AMCed’s key functions is to provide training and support for new and existing chaplains. A Muslim chaplain’s role requires specific training in a holistic approach towards the psycho-socio-spiritual wellbeing of indiviuals in the education environment. AMCed provides induction training, mentoring and shadowing for new chaplains. AMCed also provides foundation, intermediate, advanced and ongoing chaplaincy developmental training for Muslim chaplains in the UK and beyond. It is vital that chaplains are kept up to date with all the developments in chaplaincy.

Support For University Students and Staff

Chaplaincy offers a safe space supporting students and staff in their well-being and psycho-socio-spiritual development while at university. Unlike other frontline services, chaplaincy has an open door policy providing a meeting place for students and staff to unwind and relax. Our approach is personal where you can ask questions and receive care and support. Muslim chaplains work in accordance with the policies of their respective educational institution to ensure each student enjoys an enhanced experience.

Support for Institutions

At AMCed, our Chaplaincy Support Service is dedicated to enriching the wellbeing of individuals within educational and care institutions through compassionate, inclusive wellbeing support. We understand the diverse needs of modern institutions, and our chaplains are trained to offer a calm, non-judgmental presence—supporting staff, students, and service users of all faiths or none. Whether through one-to-one pastoral conversations, group reflections, or involvement in institutional events and wellbeing programs, our chaplains are committed to being a trusted, accessible part of your community. At AMCed, we believe that nurturing the social, emotional, psychological and spiritual health of your institution contributes to a more grounded, resilient, and compassionate environment for all.
